Starfleet Science Division had indications of the Yx'Toxi's previous existence as early as 2249. Their appearance, modeled by AI algorithms based on the scant fossil remains left, is unlike anything previously encountered. The Yx'Toxi had very few internal bone structures- primarily the spine and portions of the skull. Much of these beings' support structure seemed to be chitinous or cartilaginous.
