At a Glance
Prelinam, the Orion name for Orion II, is one of the most politically divided systems in the Orion Borderlands and tensions do erupt around it with some regularity. Kolar, during the Fourth Thakolarivaj annexed Prelinam from Ur'eon in a dynastic marriage. The Thakokaheedi had a love for Prelinam Black Pearls and made it the center of her Imperial Mon. She secured Prelinam's equatorial holdings as Imperial territory. However, polar outposts to this day remain allied to Ur'eon and the Thakokaheedi's concubine and spouse.
In Prelinam's orbital space, the situation is even more complicated. Jeysar is Vondem territory, owned by a wealthy corporate magnate for his personal pleasure. Tendari was later returned to Ur'eon control at the final collapse of the Last Thakolarivaj; its ownership is still a point of consternation between the worlds. Meanwhile, Pax, the largest moon of Prelinam and most like its parent, is a smuggler's base controlled by the Xo-a Kulkaadi. They nominally allow the Orion Free Traders Consortium to operate on Pax but they habitually give Vondemi and Kolari vessels difficulty for past transgressions.
Further problems exist in the interplanetary space of Beta Orionis which is a split system- Vondem is a Federation affiliate but neither Kolar nor Ur'eon are. Ur'eon maintains respectful but neutral terms with the United Federation of Planets but the Kolari Vaj is coldly neutral. Because of the intricate diplomacies of the area, the Federation Starfleet is hamstringed to do much about the Orion Pirates base on Pax- unless they enter Vondemi or Federation space.
