Catullascape.jpg

Catulla VI is eight percent larger than Earth but spins on its axis at almost half the speed of Earth. The planet has two fairly large but distant moons which create complex tidal forces on the planet's four major oceans. Catulla is metal and mineral-rich. Catullan ingenuity has allowed for impressive deep core dumps and deep core mines. The planet is an immense cityscape and yet its walkways feel surprisingly devoid of people- or at least lightly inhabited- for a megalopolis. That is offset by a large number of airborne, wheeled, treaded, or skittering crab, and spider-like automata which are "personal interface devices." All kinds of unmanned drones and robotic systems act as couriers for food, supplies, fuel, and entertainment. There seems to be no differentiation between working and housing structures. The only differentiated buildings are arenas.

Terrain

In Modern Antiquity, the era of the Pre-Fetches, Catulla had a dry, cool climate dominated by grasslands, arid steppes, and light forests. For the most part, Catulla's wind and weather patterns were and still are anemic by Earth standards. Major swathes of coastline were salt marshes and could reach inland for kilometers during a double high tide. Catullan ingenuity allowed for the building of elevated city terraces that allowed the tide to flow under the city- and these tidal forces powered the city above with hydroelectric turbines.

With the rise of the Superintelligent AI Fetches known as Tha-It and Nei, Catulla's surface burst with ever densifying urban landscape. Today, over 80% of the land and almost 28% of its oceans (mostly the coastlines) are colonized by infrastructure. Catulla is one of the few examples of what Federation science would call an Ecumenopolis- a "world city." The remaining 20% of the landscape not part of the urban sphere are refuges called "Bio-Sanctuaries." These reserves are mostly light forests and grasslands with what remains of Catullan fauna. Greenery is not exclusive to these areas, however- Catullans love plants and gardens. Most have box terraces or patio gardens in their domiciles. Catullans also have indoor and outdoor parkland- sometimes hundreds of meters up inside a building- where the building's denizens go for a more natural feel.

Satellites

Cateen.png

Catulla has two natural satellites, both large by moon standards but farther out than Luna compared to Earth. As Catullan technology allowed it, the Fetches and the modern Noo State have put in orbit space elevators, skyhook stations, and orbital communities. Three asteroids have been towed and placed into orbit, mostly for the purposes of resource extraction.
