At a Glance
The gentle curmudgeons of the Berellian species are ponderous and sloth-like vegetarians who value music, art, philosophy, and the humanities. Their thick fingers and large girths have famously created a stereotype that they make poor engineers. In truth, most Berellians see the engineering sciences as a soulless venture. Berellians are one of the longest living species currently known to Federation science- one is not an "adult" until nearly their fiftieth year. A "venerable" Berellian is probably edging toward 500 years old. As patient and relaxed beings with a different concept of time, Berellians sometimes misunderstand shorter-lived races who always seem in such a hurry.
