At a Glance
Nausicaa is a dangerous, harsh world that borders on being a Class L Moon. Orbiting a massive gas giant twenty percent larger than Jupiter, Nausicaa is the closest moon. It is subject to ion plasma disturbances in its atmosphere and an incredible magnetosphere which, unshielded, is fatal to most humanoids. Nausicaa has a massive iron core that combats the magnetosphere of Ghurrv'a Nas- but only to a degree. Because of this, most of the Nausicaan tribes live on the dark side of Nausicaa facing away from the gas giant. Traveling to the "Face of Ghurrv'a Nas" requires using extensive use of subterranean cavern systems and forays on the surface which are as short as possible.
Despite the name, Nausicaa IIIa is not the Nausicaan homeworld. They do not share any evolutionary markers to the fauna native to Nausicaa, which is hardy, primitive, and primarily reptilian analogs. How the Nausicaans came to be on Nausicaa and proliferate is a subject of much debate. The leading theories are that Nausicaa was a safari world for their spacefaring ancestors, or perhaps it was a place of exile or imprisonment by either other Nausicaans or another alien species. The original Nausicaan homeworld has never been located.
