Senior Officers' Quarters (Decks 2 and 3)
With space at a premium, Senior Officers and Department Heads are really the only staff that has their own room with no shared amenities. Compared to future generations, the Ulysses and the Malachowski-class are Spartan in size rationing. Unlike the deep space Constitution-class where shore-leave was expected to be months in-between, the Malachowski-class was never designed for such lengthy sojourns without relief. The personal space was not deemed as necessary when the ship would be, at best, a couple of weeks from a starbase or planet for leave. The result is: the Ulysses is a lot "cozier" than its bigger cousins.
Junior Officers' Residences (Decks 2-4)
Junior (Commissioned) Officers (generally Ensigns and LTJGs) shared a two-person public living space with individual "cubbies" for personal space. The design incorporates a small shared space between two sleeping cubicles on opposite sides of the room, which can be isolated with sliding transparent aluminum screens and curtains. Like all quarters and residences of the day, there is no food synthesizer inside, but there is a small cold storage unit.
