Starfleet Science Division had indications of the Yx'Toxi's previous existence as early as 2249.
. Their appearance, modeled by AI algorithms based on the scant fossil remains left, is unlike anything previous encountered. The Yx'Toxi had very few internal bone structures- primarily the spine and portions of the skull. Much of these beings' support structure seemed to be chitinous or cartilaginous.
