Ancestries of the Northwestern Woods
Eyr's Haunted Woodlands
The northwestern coast of Eyr beyond the lakes region is a massive, nearly contiguous forest. Sometimes called the Six Rivers Woodlands, this region has proven recalcitrant to the whims and will of Humans. The region is extremely rural and wild, with hidden pockets within the forest from which cling small, isolated hamlets and perhaps a manor or monastery. There are only three large cities in the entire region. And in all honesty they only control the confines of their walls.
In the city-states of Presht, Brudja and Rukh, life is urbane in an incomplete mimicry of the stylish courts of the Basker and Seorna. With a venality and treachery all their own they plot, though lack the decadence of the lakes. These city-dwellers look down on the rustic woodland folk outside their city walls, and yet the forest has confounded their arrogance, technology and patience at every turn.
The Woods outside the cities are mostly flat though steadily rise toward the south, east and north into rugged hills and low-slung mountains. The coastline is rugged, with some precious protected inlets and river deltas to allow inland trade. But compared to the south, the land's cultivation for trade and farming are rudimentary. The woods hold rich resources for timber as well as hunting and wild gathering.
Humans of the Woods
Human Ancestries are most common along the rivers and coastlines of the Northwestern Woodlands. Outside of their city walls
Tzimyska
In the language of the Rukha, "Tzimys" are "outsiders." The Tzimyska and their Krowzir overlords came to these woods second, as a colonizing force.

Krowzir
The Krowzir are minor nobles who have risen and kept their titles and lands through ruthless diplomacy, bluster, saber-rattling and frequent warfare. When those traditional tactics fail to work, venal treachery is always in the cards. Sometimes known as the "Dragonlords" the Krowzir have personality traits in common with those great lizards. They take what they want. That which they see is theirs- including the people of their lands and any resources those people may have.
Preshtare
The urbane Preshtare dominate the cities and are an amalgam of a liberal-leaning Krowzir class of reformists and displaced or married minor nobility from the Lok D'Eor.
The Preshtare reject material wealth as the best measure of aristocracy and focus on spiritualism and art. They are some of Eyr's per-eminent art and music patrons, yet what they see produced is vastly different than the stoic appreciation of the human potential of Seorna, or the decadent self-gratifying portraiture of the Lok D'Eor.
The Preshtare embrace dance and music, and their native dance- the Baléa- is increasingly seen as one of the most graceful dance arts in all of western Xios.
Rukha
Perhaps the longest inhabiting Human Beings of these woods, the Rukha have a distinct language and culture that differs from their neighbors. Sometimes call "River People" or the "Raft Tramps,"

Strikja
Regarding their visitors with distinctly owl-like glowing yellow eyes, Strikja have an almost bird like countenance to their faces and their curved talons. Their loathed rivals are the more bat-like, subterranean-dwelling Moroy.
