Ancestries of the Eyrish Lok d'Eor
Decadence Reigns in the Lake Kingdoms
In the Lok d'Eor, power is paramount- financial wealth, political gravitas, temporal clout, arcane skill, a name, a title, a list of deeds both dark and light. Those who have it aim to keep it. Those who don't will do anything to get it. Under a mask of a "Golden Age" and a "Great Enlightenment," this region has an arrogant confidence and a brazen approach to diplomacy and spectacle.
Within their treacherous, self-congratulatory Belle Epoque, corruption finds new paths to power and it invites the truly wicked to supplant the merely selfish. Excess rots the aristocracy who exist in mandatory idleness at the many rotating seasonal courts. An increasingly minor seam of the old guard see all this as pernicious and troubling. A few see and hear the normally above notice murmurs of their peasantry.
Misrule and out of touch bureaucracies who must contend with the fragile egos of the powerful over the needs of the people define the Lok d'Eor.
